If you are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and creative people with whom to share your retirement hours, then The Wesley Fellowship Group would love to meet you. The group is made up of men and women of different backgrounds and faith traditions, all sharing some common interests - to stay fit, to have fun, and to try something new.
For a nominal fee, we are able to use the Wesley Fellowship Hall for our activities. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9:30 - 10:30, we meet for "gym" under the watchful eye of Eric Larkin. We usually arrive around 9:00 am., check the Fellowship bulletin board of upcoming events or recent group photos, then take a walk around the hall in readiness for our exercises. These exercises are low-impact and designed for cardio-vascular maintenance. The whole class is done to music. We wind down with some gentle stretching, taking time to reflect on what we are grateful for or to offer a prayer for any member who is going through a difficult moment. During the summer, we meet once a month to walk a city trail and enjoy an outdoor cup of tea.
On Tuesday afternoons, we pray Bridge under the guidance of Elsie Larkin. While we all enjoy the game and take it seriously, we manage to engage in lots of laughing and chatting through the afternoon. As the game starts to wind down, Elsie starts preparing tea so that we can finish the afternoon with some lively conversation and lots of nice treats.
