Wesley United Church

The 3rd St. John's Wesley Rovers is an active group of Scouts Canada whose purpose is to provide service. They were founded in 1972 and are a completely volunteer group, operating as a non-profit organization. Their service for the St. John's region is in the area of Ground Search and Rescue. There is only one other Rover crew in the province and we work with them. We also work closely with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary doing search and rescue and with Transport Canada doing inshore boating safety.

Our Rover crew is available all hours of the day and night for local searches, as required, and we participate in regional training exercises and events. Our crew also assists with Scout and Guide units by doing presentations on Lost in the Woods and Boating Safety. With Scouts Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador) we provide system maintenance for the Provincial Jamborees and Cuborees and other camp activities as requested.



Currently, we have sixteen male and female members registered in the crew. The two Rover crews in the province have a state of the art Command Centre truck that the members fund-raised for and built themselves. The 3rd St. John's Wesley Rovers meet on the third Wednesday of each month at the church. The accolades received by these dedicated Rovers have made Wesley United Church very proud that they are a part of our ministry.
