Fall Fair Committee Moose Supper

The Fall Fair Committee will be hosting a Moose Supper (Roast Beef available) on Wednesday March 28th at 6:00 pm. in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $15.00 and must be purchased by Friday March 23rd. Tickets will not be available at the door. To order tickets, please call Walter at 364-7440.

Holy Week Services

Once again, the St. John's and area United Churches will be joining together to celebrate Holy Week by worshipping together. All are invited to share in these services as we journey together in this holy season. The offering from these services will be used to support the East District Chaplaincy Fund, which ministers to Eastern Health, the Penitentiary and MUN. Services begin at 7:30 pm. The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday  -  First United

Thursday      -  Gower Street United

Good Friday Service

The Annual Three Hour Good Friday service will be held at George Street United Church beginning at 12:00 pm.  Once again, seven preachers will speak on the Seven Words from the Cross. All are invited to attend.

Good Friday Movie Presentation

Wesley United Church will be showing the movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Good Friday evening at 7:30 pm. in the Fellowship Hall. This ground breaking musical portrays the events leading up to Christ's death on the cross. Filmed in the Holy lands, the film is a visual spectacle and features the music and lyrics of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. There is no admission fee and refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.

Seniors' Communion

We will be hosting an Easter Saturday Communion service on April 7 at 2:00 pm. in the sanctuary. This has been traditionally known as our Seniors' Communion but any and all who wish to attend are invited to do so. A time of fellowship follows the service, hosted by our UCW. If you would like a ride to and from the service, please contact the church office at 579-3682.

Passover Seder Meal

We will be celebrating the Passover Seder Meal again this year. The Seder will be celebrated on Saturday April 7 at 6:30 pm. in the Fellowship Hall. As in years past, a pot luck supper will be incorporated into the service. Sign up sheets are available around the church. If you are interested in attending, please sign the sheets, indicating the number of people attending and the type of dish (hot, cold, dessert) that you are willing to bring to the meal. The last date to sign up for the meal will be Monday, April 2 to allow Rev. Mercer the time to pick up what he needs for the service.

Diamond Jubilee High Tea

Wesley United Church will be hosting an afternoon High Tea in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The event will be held on Saturday April 14th from 2:30 - 4:00 pm. in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets for the event are available at a cost of $10.00 and may be purchased from the church office or by phoning 364-7440 or 368-0434 (table reservations accepted). Dress for the Tea is Casual Elegant.
