Building for Generations Fund
The Building For Generations Fund of Wesley United Church was started by a few members who were interested in having monies available for upkeep and repairs to our aging, historical building, as the need arose. The fund, over the past few years, has focused largely on repairs to the roof of, both, the Wesley annex and the sanctuary. The annex roof was in a state of disrepair and was leaking badly. When it rained, flooding in the Sunday School section of the basement was so bad that pumps were needed to remove the water and drain the floor. It was determined that the structure of the roof had to be changed and new eaves needed to be installed around the building. We are happy to report that repairs were completed at a cost of $63,000 which was paid for, entirely, from the Building For Generations Fund. As well, as of the last week of September, the roof over the sanctuary has been completely re-shingled. While the final cost for this job has not been determined, we are able to say that the amount will be paid in full through the Building for Generations Fund.
On a side note, the Fund was also used to install two new fire escapes, at a cost of $39,000, for the Sanctuary. Once again, we were able to complete this job without having to apply for a loan or any other financial assistance!
We wish to thank all the people who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to this fund and worthy project, through their generous donations. As you may well imagine, with the completion of the much needed repairs, the Fund itself has diminished in size. We are hoping to maintain and build upon the Fund so that we will be prepared for any emergencies which may come our way and for other projects within our Church in its 102nd year.

With every donation, we record who the gift is made in memory of on our fund-raising wall and a tax-receipt and thank you note is forwarded to the donor. Building for Generations Fund envelopes are available in the sanctuary and at the church office, or you can make a donation by calling the church office at 709-579-3682 or downloading and mailing the donation form.
A donation to the fund is a great way to remember a birthday, anniversary or special event, or as a memorial to a loved one.
